Palestine General Baptist Church at one time was a Methodist Church that had orginally been located just a mile or so West in Haines Township and was moved from there to the location where it has stood now for many years.

The church was organized on September 8, 1912, under the name of Union Home General Baptist Church; however, this name was changed to Palestine in the year of 1920.

Original building burned to the ground on July 6, 1926. On July 21, 1926 a special meeting was called to discuss ways and means to rebuild. In the meantime services were being held in the grove near the church.

A motion was made to purchase an acre of gournd from Hannah Watson and to build a new church across the road from the cemetery. The building specs were 26x40 feet, cost of ground was $40.00. The new church was dedicated on July 3, 1927, with Rev Lloyd Bosley, pastor of the church at that time, bringing the dedicatory sermon. Mrs. Robert, "Pauline" Dial - was chair of Cemetery Association.

Palestine Cemetery has 253 stones with the oldest stone from 1899, D.C. Dobbs.

There are fifteen veterans buried at Palestine, three of which are Civil War veterans and one from the Spanish-American War.
